  • Notes on Caller ID (CID)

    By default, the number of the caller is shown in the display of your Gigaset telephone. You do not have to make any other settings on your Gigaset telephone. However, if the caller's number is not displayed, this can be due to the following:

    - You have not ordered CID from your network provider or
    - Your telephone is connected through a PBX that does not transmit all information.

    Is your telephone connected through a PBX/gateway?
    You can establish this by checking for an additional device connected between your telephone and house connection, e.g., a PBX, gateway etc.
    In most cases, simply resetting this device will remedy the situation:
    - Briefly disconnect the power plug of your PBX.
    - Re-insert the plug and wait for the device to restart.

    If the caller number is still not displayed:
    Check the CID settings of your PBX and activate this function if necessary. In the user guide for the device, search for the term "CID" (or an alternative term such as "phone number transmission", "caller ID", ..).

    If necessary, contact the device manufacturer. If this does not resolve the problem, it is possible that your network provider does not support the CID service for this number.

    Have you ordered the CID service from your network provider?
    Check whether your provider supports Caller ID (CID) and that the function has been activated for you. If necessary, contact your provider.

  • Which possibilities do I have with external call forwarding?

    If call forwarding is configured, it is activated at the provider exchange. Both telephone lines assigned to your ISDN connection are free during call forwarding.


    You can define the following conditions for call forwarding:

    Immediately - On busy - On no reply

  • What are the system requirements?

    Your system must meet at least the following requirements for installing talk&surf. You

    should also comply with the Microsoft Corporation recommendations for your Windows

    operating system.


    Minimum PC hardware requirements
    • IBM AT compatible Pentium II with 200 MHz
    • 64 MB RAM 95 MB free hard disk memory
    • 1 free USB socket for direct USB connection to the base station, operation with Gigaset M34 USB or Gigaset USB Adapter DECT
    • 1 CD-ROM drive or 1 DVD drive


    Minimum operating system requirements

    • Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista (32bit) oder Windows 7 (32bit)
    • Dial-up network ready for use


    Minimum base station requirements

    • Gigaset Base Station ready for use


    Notice that only 32 bits versions of Windows operation systems are

    supported. There is no possibility to install Talk&Surf on 64 bits

    operation systems.
    Fax functionality for PC and CAPI only compatible with Windows XP.

  • Is it possible to use the Gigaset HC450 with the Gigaset SX353 ISDN?

    No, this is not possible. The Gigaset SX353 ISDN does not support the needed protocol. It is not possible to upgrade to this function with a newer firmware.

  • What is meant by Night service?

    With the night service feature you can configure timed call forwarding, e.g. to divert calls to a private telephone outside office hours. In the same way as external call forwarding, only MSNs that the relevant handset has configured as an incoming MSN can be forwarded externally. If the night service is already activated, it must be deactivated again in order to alter the forwarding destination.

  • How is a doorbell connection signalized?

    A call at the entrance telephone is signalled (3 short tones). The call is signalled a total of 5 times and is then automatically ended by the entrance telephone.

  • Can I use an application which needs a Capi or Tapi interface for the communication?

    Yes, it is possible to install a Capi and a Tapi. Please have a look at the FAQs for “Calling with the PC” and “Capi”.

  • How can I make an internet connection with the device?
    • If there is a cable USB connection between the base station and the computer, an online connection is only possible with an installed Capi.
    • If there is a wireless connection between the base station and the Gigaset M34 USB, USB adapter DECT, Gigaset M101 or Gigaset M105, the installation of a “Uni-Modem”- or WAN driver is possible. With these driver (available on the product under “gigaset-usb-adapter”) a modem for the particular interface will be installed. Basically, we recommend to use the WAN driver.
    • With Gigaset Base stations and Bluetooth interface it is possible to make a connection with an additional Bluetooth adapter. It is not necessary to install the Talk&Surf or the Capi for an online connection
