  • Which In-App packages are available and what advantages do they offer?
  • Are you having difficulties with the synchronisation of base and your account? We hope that we can help you further with these tips.

    1. Power and Internet connection:

The main requirement for connecting base with your account is, that it has power and is connected to the Internet. Before you press the pairing button on base and enter the activation code in your app, please check if the LEDs on base are as follows:

    - The top LED is lit: This means that base is supplied with power.
    - The middle LED is lit: This means that base is connected to the Internet.
    - The bottom LED flashes slowly. This means that base is not yet connected with your account.

The top LED is not lit up? Check if the power supply is connected properly with base and power socket?

The middle LED is flashing? Then base is not connected to the Internet. Check whether or not the LAN cable is correctly connected with your router and base and check whether something is wrong with your home Internet connection by using your computer or smartphone.

Now the bottom LED should flash slowly and the upper and middle LEDs are lit up.

    2. Ready for synchronisation:
When you have reached this point, you have to play an active role. After you have logged into the Gigaset elements app using your email address and password, you will be prompted in the app to press the pairing button on the base station (this is located directly above the 3 LEDs). Press it and release it again. Then click on NEXT. After you have done this, please check the LEDs again:

    • The upper and middle LED lights should both still be lit up
    • The lower LED should now flash more quickly (several times per second): this means that base is ready for synchronisation and thus for the entering the activation code

The lower LED is not flashing, even though all of the requirements described above have been met and you have pressed the pairing button? Then please report this problem to our Customer Services and indicate the activation code from base in your message.

    3. Entering the activation code:
Now you will be prompted by the app to type the 10-digit base activation code into the app. It only consists of numbers and capital letters. You can find it on the back of base. Enter the code and click on NEXT.

Caution: For security reasons base is only ready to login for 90 seconds after pressing the pairing button. Therefore make sure you have entered the activation code and clicked NEXT in the app within this time. If you have entered the activation code incorrectly 5 times, you can try again after 30 minutes.

You get an error message? A possible cause is that base is already connected to a different account. This can be the case, for example, if you want to set up a used product and the previous user has not logged base out from his account. In this case please notify our Customer Services and ask to unlock this base station. Please provide the activation code in your message and provide evidence to prove without doubt, that you are the legitimate owner of this base.

    4. Tips & Tricks:
There is just no way to avoid it entirely: Sometimes something goes wrong somewhere. In some cases, it helps to unplug base and then plug it back in again after 5 minutes and try synchronisation again.

Or you can try synchronisation using the smartphone app instead of the Web app or vice versa. If one of these two tricks works, we would of course still like to hear your feedback so that we are able to fix the problem.

    5. It just won´t work:
We are sorry that you are still not able to use your Gigaset elements. Please feel free to contact our colleagues at Customer Services and describe as precisely as possible whenever there is a problem. Please enter the activation code of your base in the message. In general, the more information you can give us, e.g. smartphone model used, operating system and version of your smartphone/PC, Internet browser used and version (if you have used the Web app), the more we can help you.

  • There can be several reasons for receiving a message that your base is offline. If you're at home, go to your base station, where you can see what the problem is by a simple look at the LEDs:

    - All 3 LEDs are off: base has no power. If this is the case, make sure that the network cable is correctly attached to the power socket.

    - The top LED is lit up, the middle LED is flashing slowly (1x per sec): base is not connected to the Internet. Check that the LAN cable is connected with base correctly and your Internet router. You should also look up, whether your Internet connection is working in general.

    - The top LED is lit up, the middle LED is flashing quickly (2x per sec): An Internet connection is available, but it is not possible to connect to the cloud. This might be caused by an activated firewall. As an Internet-based system, in exceptional cases it cannot be completely ruled out that the Gigaset elements server is unavailable. If this is the case, you will be informed under Current.

  • If a sensor is shown as offline in the app, it might be for two reasons:

1.The sensor or the sirens are located outside of the range of base (max 50 m inside buildings). In this case the LED flashes on the sensor.
2.The sensor battery is flat (does not apply to mains-powered sirens). If you get a message in the app that the battery is almost flat, this is most likely the reason. By clicking on the filter function in the event list you can find this message quickly. In this case the LED on the sensor does not flash.

  • The starter kit includes the base station, a door and a motion sensor. The door sensor is mounted to the inner surface of the front door - without drilling or screwing. The motion sensor is placed in the hallway, at an angle to the front door and recognizes from this position, if somebody actually entered the apartment after opening the door. You can either use the attached adhesive strip, the stand or screw it to the wall. The base station is connected to the Internet router via LAN cable and shall therefore be located nearby.

A corresponding manual which is part of the starter kit leads you through the installation from the beginning to the end.

  • If you don't receive any push messages from Gigaset elements on your smartphone, please check the following:

    - Is your smartphone connected with your user account? This can be done in your Gigaset elements app under CONFIGURATION, in an event category (e.g. homecoming) click on EDIT next to NOTIFICATIONS and check to see if your smartphone appears in the displayed list. If this is not the case, click on ADD --> smartphone at the bottom of the same screen to add the smartphone to your account.

    - Have you selected those events you want to receive push messages for under CONFIGURATION in the Gigaset elements app?

    - Is your smartphone connected to the Internet via WiFi or 3G? Push messages will be received faster via WiFi than via 3G.

    - Is your smartphone equipped with the latest OS? If your Apple device runs on an iOS lower than 8.1.1, most push messages will not be sent.

Please note that the transfer of push messages is dependent on Apple (for iPhone) and Google (for smartphones with Android), who cannot guarantee that 100% of the push messages will be transferred.

If you still don't receive any push messages, please notify our Customer Services. Please give as detailed information as possible, so that we can fix your problem as soon as possible.

  • Our main target is to ensure that your Gigaset elements is as safe as possible. To guarantee that only you can connect your sensor with your base in your environment, it´s inevitable that you click the base and the sensor pairing button at the same time. Please consider that sensor and base station shouldn´t be more than two arm-lenghts away from each other.

  • In order to be able to report a door or window opening or closing correctly, door and window have to know their base. By confirming once in the app, that the door and window are closed, you inform the sensor that this is the starting point. In specialists jargon this process is called calibration. Subsequent to this installation of door and window they can now correctly differ between opening and closing.

  • Your base station is online when all three lights (LEDs) light up. If this isn’t the case, you can find out here what the reason could be. You can also look under SYSTEM OVERVIEW in the app to see if base is online. Simply click on base and then on HELP.

If a sensor is online, its LED is off. If the LED is flashing, the sensor is outside the range of base. If the sensor's LED is off, but the sensor is shown in the LED as offline, it is very likely that the batteries are flat.

      • If door reports suspicion of a break-in and you have activated siren, the siren emits a loud noise to act as a deterrent. To switch off siren you have the following options:

        - In the alarm screen in your Gigaset Elements App, click on CLOSE
        - If you're at home, either press the pairing button on siren or remove siren from the power socket

If you don't react, siren turns itself off automatically after 90 seconds.

      • If you have connected siren with base, you can set it to make a loud sound in the event of a suspected break-in. This can be done in your Gigaset elements app under CONFIGURATION by ticking the box in the INTRUSION area next to siren.

If you wish to disable siren again, remove the tick.

Following an app update it is now also possible to activate siren for the away mode. In this case, the sirens emit a loud sound if
        - motion detects movement
        - door detects the door being opened (e.g. by picking the lock)
        - window detects the window being opened or tilted

      • To expand your elements system with a new sensor, just complete the following steps:

        1. In your Gigaset elements app, go to SYSTEM OVERVIEW:
        2. Click on ADD+.
        3. Hold down the base and sensor pairing buttons simultaneously.
        4. Release both pairing buttons when the sensor LED stops flashing.

If you have added door or window, you'll need to set it up now, so that it can supply you with information. After this you're done and you can use your new sensor.

      • For security reasons it is necessary to keep the pairing buttons on the base and the sensor pressed at the same time and at a maximum distance of 2 arm lengths until the LEDs on the sensor stop flashing.

If you have a movable sensor (like motion or siren), you can simply take it to the base station and connect it with your system:

        Door & window (with mount):

        1. Remove your sensor from its mount
        2. Take the sensor to the base station and connect it with your system by simultaneously pressing the pairing buttons on base and the sensor
        3. Take the sensor back to its original position and reattach it to the mount.

        motion:

1 .Remove the motion detector (if you are not using the stand) from its wall bracket
        2. Take motion to the base station and connect it with your system by simultaneously pressing the pairing buttons on base and motion
        3. Take motion back to its original position. siren:

        1. Unplug siren from the power socket
        2. Plug siren into a power socket within range of base (a maximum of 2 arm lengths away)
        3. Connect siren with base by simultaneously pressing the pairing buttons on base and siren
        4. Take siren back to its original position.

If you have already attached your sensor directly to a surface, you can still connect it with base, without having to dismantle it:

        door & window (without mount):

        1. Go to the base station and take out the LAN cable 2.Disconnect the base power adapter from the power socket
        3. Take your base station within range of the sensor that you want to connect with base
        4. Plug the power adapter into a power socket near your sensor.
        5. Wait until the middle LED lights up or flashes.
        6. Connect the sensor with base as described above by simultaneously pressing the pairing buttons on base and on the sensor (it is not necessary for base to be connected to the Internet for pairing)
        7. Take base back to its original position and connect it to the LAN cable again.
        8. After base is connected to the Internet again, the sensor will be displayed in the app.

      • When you've found the right place for motion you can mount it by sticking or screwing it to the wall; you can also use the stand for a flexible installation.

. Put the battery in and attach the smaller panel on the front and the larger panel on the back of motion by simply clicking it into place.

        2. If motion is not part of the Gigaset elements starter kit, you must now connect motion with base. Open your Gigaset elements app, go to SYSTEM OVERVIEW and click on ADD. Then the app will take you through the additional steps.

        3. In the following we will explain the three ways to install or mount motion:

        Stand assembly:
If you have a shelf or a cupboard at the corresponding height you can mount motion using the stand. To secure the stand you just click it into place behind the panel. Important: In order to remove the stand, you have to first take out the battery and press the white button in the middle to release the back panel. Then you can press the two brackets together in the middle (klick here for detailed information).

Mounting on straight surfaces by sticking or drilling:
Before drilling or sticking we recommend you should think carefully about where you want to install motion. For direct mounting on the wall you can use the enclosed adhesive strips and stick the sensor to the wall.

Alternatively, you can use the enclosed screws and attach the back panel of motion to the wall. Then you reattach motion to the back panel.

Mounting in wall corners by sticking or drilling: First, clip the corner piece into the back of motion.

When using the corner piece you should hold the sensor for a short time in the corner of the wall to see whether it is pointing in the right direction. Please make sure that the front is pointing in the direction of the door (motion must not be aligned horizontally).

Stick the adhesive strips onto the back of the wall bracket and press motion onto the wall with the sticky side down for about 15 seconds at the place previously determined.

You will need your drill for drilling and after you are finished you can use the plugs and screws to secure the wall bracket to the wall. Simply use the wall bracket or the corner piece to mark the place for drilling.

      • To remove door from your door, simply follow the following steps:
        1. Turn door with a little force in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction
        2. This will release door from the adhesive
        3. After you have removed door from the adhesive, you can carefully rub the adhesive strips off the door.

      • To remove window from the window frame, simply follow these steps: 1.Turn window with a little force in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction 2.This will release window from the adhesive strips - After you have removed window from the adhesive strips, you can carefully rub the adhesive strips off the window.

      • To provide that door works properly, please mount it directly above the door handle. Attach it on the side of the door which opens towards you, as shown in the illustration below. Use the adhesive strips provided in the packaging so that door is securely fixed to the door.

      • So window can distinguish, as reliable as possible, whether or not a window is open, closed or tilted, mount it in the upper corner, on the side with the window handle (see illustration below). For window to be attached securely, please use the adhesive strips, which are included in the set. This is very important, because the sensor must be moved by at least 5 degrees to recognize whether a window is "tilted".

      • You can install siren anywhere within your home (up to 50 m away from base). After you have connected siren with base, simply plug siren into a functioning power socket. We recommend that you don't install siren too close to the front door, as the siren is stopped by pressing the pairing button and pulling it out of the socket.

      • When commissioning the Gigaset elements starter kit we recommend that you mount Motion
        - on the wall containing the front door
        - on the side of the door handle
        - at a height of approx. 2.40 m
        - with a clear view of the entrance area
        - in a vertical orientation

        motion must not
        - point in the direction of a window as rays of sunlight can affect the fine sensor technology of the motion detector.
        - be more than 50 m away from base
        - be mounted near heating, air conditioning or a fan, since these devices will also affect the fine sensors
        - be mounted on a vibrating surface (e.g. a speaker or subwoofer) or on a window

You can mount the motion wall bracket by sticking or drilling and screwing it in. Or you can use the stand for a flexible installation.

If you mount motion as described above, it can assist you in a number of aspects:

        - It lets you know if one of your loved ones comes home
        - If you suspect a burglary you can check whether someone actually entered the house.

If you buy an additional motion detector (or your entrance area is set out differently and it is not possible to mount motion as described above), please note the following:
        - motion cannot recognize movement behind doors, walls, cabinets, etc.!
        - Find a different location where motion has a clear view of the area to be monitored
        - motion registers movements at an angle of 90 degrees and a distance up to 12 metres, at a velocity of 0,3 to 3 m/s
        - In this case, motion should also be mounted at a height of approx. 2.40 m

      • To download the Gigaset elements app on your iPad, go to the App Store and filter by device: "All". The app will be visible and you can download it. For iOS 7.0, choose the "iPhone" option.

Currently, there is no custom app for the iPad. Unlike the iPad, it is not possible to download the smartphone app on an Android tablet.

      • The time delay determines the amount of time in the away mode that has to pass by until an alert goes off. This way you don’t have to set your preferred mode in advance; instead you’ve got enough time to get home stress-free. If you set up a time delay of 30 seconds for example, you can switch to the home mode after coming home using your smartphone or a button. If you’re not fast enough to change the mode within this timeframe an automatic alert is triggered.
Thanks to this feature you can configure individually, how much time you’ll need to enter your home calmly. Simply go to your apps’ CONFIGURATION and choose a timespan for your DELAY ALARM under INTRUSION. Please be aware that short response times contribute to your systems safety; we recommend a maximum delay of 15 seconds.

         - via email: You simply enter the desired person´s email address in your app and define the events that the person is to be notified about.

         - via push notification: You offer a person to download the Gigaset elements app and to log in using your user name and password. Accordingly they will receive push notifications and information from your home just like you do and can inform themselves about events in the app. All of you can be logged in simultaneously.

The possibility of being able to send text messages is planned for the future.

      • If the Gigaset elements app is not shown in your language, it is most likely because your smartphone or iPhone does not have the language as the system language. As soon as you change the system language of the smartphone to your language, the app will also be displayed in your language when you next open it.

After this you might change the system language back to your preferred language. English is then stored as the preferred app language (applies only to iPhones).

How to change the system language on your iPhone to your preferred language: Settings > General > International > Language > Choose language (English, German e.g.)

How to change the system language on your smartphone with Android: Settings > My Device > Language and input > Language > Choose language (English, German e.g.)

      • In order to provide best protection for your Gigaset elements system, your password must be at least 8 characters long, with at least

        - 1 number
        - 1 special character (+, *, #, !, etc.)
        - 1 upper case letter
        - 1 lower case letter

In addition, your password is not allowed to contain your first or last name.

      • Currently the app is available in German, French, English, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Czech. To make sure, that the English version of the Gigaset elements app starts, you only have to set your smartphone´s system language to English.

      • To ensure that your smartphone is compatible with the Gigaset app, you can simply look up your mobile OS in the following list of supported systems.

iOS: > iOS 10 and watchOS 3.1 or higher

Android: > Android 5.0 or higher

      • If there’s a program installed or a function activated that deletes background processes automatically, the functionality of your elements widget might be impaired. This might be due to the automatic elimination of processes, since it cuts the connection to your Gigaset elements App; this makes a relogin to the app necessary.
Some of these programs make it possible to exclude specific apps from the elimination; simply add the Gigaset elements app to one of these lists to ensure the functionality of the widget. Please contact the programs producer if you’re not sure, whether the program supports exclusion or not.

      • The following message is displayed on the dashboard under the door or window status: "Not clear"?

If a sensor has temporarily gone offline, it cannot be determined whether the door or the window is opened or closed. In this case it is theoretically possible that someone could open the door while a sensor is offline. That is why the message "Not clear" appears. Only when the sensor is back online and the next time the door or the window is opened, is the sensor status is declared.

  • F
    • Features
      • Animals with a body weight of less than 25 kg aren´t usually reported. It may happen that you are notified if an animal moves at the same height as your sensor is installed.

      • You can use your starter kit everywhere within the European Economic Area and in Switzerland. But please be aware that orders from our online shop are only shipped to addresses in Germany.

      • When you ran into your own alarm by accident you can use the widget or the button to stop the siren. For button you need to program the "Home Mode" on one of the clicks - for example double click. This would mean you come home - ran into your own alarm and double click to switch to home mode. This will stop the siren right away. Same occurs for the widget. When you ran into your own alarm you switch on your widget into home mode - you stop the siren.

      • Data which is captured by the sensors is sent to the base station via DECT-ULE. ULE stands for Ultra Low Energy and is particularly suitable for an efficient transfer of small data packets. Gigaset is equipped with a longterm experience in the area of DECT and has pushed the DECT-ULE development. The standard is distinguished by its high reliability in operation, low power consumption and high data security.

The range of the sensors in your home correlates with other DECT devices such as cordless phones, but they must not be more than 50 m away from base. Currently there aren´t any known interferences between Gigaset elements and other DECT devices; we would like to hear your feedback, if you notice any malfunctions concerning this matter.

      • If your home has windows and terrace doors on the ground floor you can provide these with window, Gigaset window sensor (does not work for sliding doors). window notifies you when a window is being opened, closed or tilted. However window does not distunguish between a normal and a violent opening. If you leave your home for a longer period of time, you can activate the away mode in your Gigaset app. It sends push messages to your smartphone if the window is being opened unexpectedly.

      • Because of the highly accurate sensors, the door sensor distinguishes between a forceful and normal door opening. If the door sensor recognizes hard kicks or bangs the system is put into alert mode. In addition the motion sensor provides you with information if somebody has actually entered your home.

Please be aware that Gigaset elements is no professional alarms system. Break-in methods that include manipulation of door locks, currently can´t be recognized by the door sensor. Gigaset elements offers you an improved level of safety at low costs.

      • Altogether you can register up to 48 sensors for base.

      • Unfortunately it´s currently not possible to maintain several Gigaset elements systems simultaneously at different locations with the same account. So you will have to make a separate user account with a second email address. But the so called “multibase-function” is planned for the future.

      • No. Actually door can only identify movements of common doors.

      • To make sure that you´re not swamped with movement notifications in your app and battery life is extended, motion waits 20 seconds before it sends out the next notification. Ongoing movements in motions´ field of view only lead to a notification if a movement hasn´t been recognized for 20 seconds.

      • The starter kit provides you with real time information on your home via your Gigaset elements app. It tells you when somebody enters or leaves through your door, if there is a suspected break-in and if your Gigaset elements is working flawless or not.

You can share what is happening in your home with people, to make sure they are always informed if something unexpected happens.

To be up to date anytime what is happening in your home, you (or other roommates / neighbors) can have push notifications and emails sent to you. Currently this is possible for following events:

        Suspected break-in:
The door sensor recognizes that somebody is trying to open the door violently.

        Homecoming:
Through the interaction of the door and the motion sensor you are informed if somebody arrives at home (how?).

        Away mode:
If no one is at home for a considerable period of time, you can inform yourself by activating away mode when the door is being opened, motions are recognized or when a window is being opened or tilted (for the last notification you need window as an additional sensor).

        System status:
Here you are immediately informed if your system needs your attention, e.g. if the battery is low.

Currently it is not possible to determine a certain timeframe for receiving notifications. However this update is planned.

    • Installation / Configuration

  • P
    • Product information
      • If a sensor is shown as offline in the app, it might be for two reasons:

1.The sensor or the sirens are located outside of the range of base (max 50 m inside buildings). In this case the LED flashes on the sensor.
2.The sensor battery is flat (does not apply to mains-powered sirens). If you get a message in the app that the battery is almost flat, this is most likely the reason. By clicking on the filter function in the event list you can find this message quickly. In this case the LED on the sensor does not flash.

      • No. It is not possible to connect the sensors to the classical DECT base station designed for telephony service.

      • If you want to delete data which is gathered inside the app, i.e. to improve the clarity, you can simply erase events from the list. Here we will give you more information about this process.

To make a reset of your Gigaset system, i.e. to adjust it individually for a new apartment, you only have to unclaim your base. You can find the necessary steps here. As soon as you have unclaimed the base station you can register it again and set new friendly names for your sensors or modify the configurations for your new home.

It is also possible to delete all your personal data at Gigaset if you are no longer satisfied with your system. The deletion of your personal data from Gigaset system works as follows:

        1. Log into the web app and go to EDIT PROFILE.
        2. Click on DELETE ACCOUNT in the lower left corner.
        3. Confirm the process.
        4. You have to enter your password to provide that only you are able to delete your account.
        5. Click on OK.
        6. You´ll get a confirmation via email.
        7. Click on the verification link in the mail to accept the deletion.
        8. Your personal data will be deleted within the next working day.
During this process your base will also be unclaimed from your account, so now you can sell your Gigaset system or give it as a present. All events and settings will be erased too.

      • No. The starter kit offers you an increased sense of security at an attractive price. It is an information system to notify you about events at your home. It is not a professional and certified alarm system, so it will not be approved by your insurance company.

      • Gigaset elements only notifies you of an attempted break in, if door recognizes an opening by force. So you don´t have to worry that somebody, who has a key to your home, will trigger an alarm by mistake.

The door sensor is very sensitive and only sets off an alarm if it senses very strong vibrations similar to a kick against the door.

      • If you leave your home, door ensures that you will be notified immediately if someone attempts to get through the door by force (using hard punches or kicks) into your home. You don't need to activate anything for door to get alerted. As soon as you leave your home, door will notify you automatically.

If someone attempts to gain access to your home by manipulating your door lock or through a window, when in fact no one should be at home, you can be notified of this if you activate the away mode under CONFIGURATION. If this is the case, door and window sensors will immediately report to you by email or push message.

      • If a sensor is online, its LED is off and it will be displayed as online in the app (go to the SYSTEM OVERVIEW in the app, select the sensor and click on HELP to view the status). If the LED is flashing, the sensor is outside the range of base.
If the sensor's LED is off, but the sensor is shown in the LED as offline, it is very likely that the batteries are flat.

      • Protection of personal data is of great importance to us. We conduct our activities in compliance with applicable regulations on data privacy protection and data security. We only collect personal data (f.e. name, address, phone number and email address) if they are needed for a contractual relationship or if you make them available by your own choice (e.g. during the registration process).

Your data is only passed on to third parties, if it is necessary for the purpose of contract execution or billing.

For the purpose of using your Gigaset system, datastreams that flow from the sensors via the base station to the Gigaset system server environment are recorded anonymously so Gigaset Communications GmbH is not able to link certain people to their system use.

Please also note our detailed rules concerning data protection as well as our terms of use.

      • The sensors work reliable within these parameters:

        - Between 20% and 75% humidity
        - Between 5 and +45 degree Celsius operating temperature

Gigaset elements´ sensors are not protected from spray water; permanent exposure to humidity or cold might damage them as well. So they should not be used outside or in moist areas.

      • The wireless sensors are usually in an almost-off mode and only activate the radio channel for a short period of time, for example if data has to be transferred.

Because of the DECT-ULE standard an insignificant amount of emission occurs within these transfer times, which furthermore lies far below the legal limit of 2 W/kg.

      • You can receive push notifications on your smartphone or have emails sent to your address. You can also take a look at your smartphone app or log in to your personal section anytime: https://app.gigaset-elements.com

      • Once you've started an update you don't need to do anything else. Updating the base station usually takes a few minutes, updating the sensors can take between 15 and 30 minutes (since it is transmitted wirelessly).

You can see in your event list, when an update has been completed. Please note that door, window and universal need to be calibrated after a successful update.

      • window, door, motion and base are not protected against spray water, so we can´t recommend to use them in moist areas. Persistent humidity might also damage the sensors.

      • If your system shows you that the battery in a sensor is almost flat, please change it for an original Gigaset battery.
Alternatively, you can use a lithium CR-123A 3V battery. These are available in the most electronics shops. The following batteries have been tested by the Gigaset elements team and can be used with our products. Recommended are

        Duracell camera battery 123, CR17345, 3.0V, 1400mAh
        Panasonic lithium CR123A, 3V, 1400mAh
        Panasonic CR123A / CR123 / CR17345 lithium battery, 3V, 1400mAh
        Energizer EL 123 AP CR 17345 1400mAh

        and others.

Should your battery become flat due to a technical fault significantly earlier than the expected average life span of one year, please contact our Customer Services. We will do our best to help you here.

      • To improve your control over the system you´ve got the possibility to choose between the three modes Home, Away and Custom. Simply go to your CONFIGURATION and choose the required mode from the operating interface; they differentiate in the following features:

In the home mode your sensors give you regular updates on their status or can notify you as soon as their condition changes. You can also get push notifications for homecoming events or updates of the system status. Your app only switches to alert mode if a suspected break-in is detected; optionally you can activate your siren to go off in this case.

If there is nobody at home over a long period of time, you can activate the away mode. During this time you´ll get instant notifications for every single event at your home. While your Gigaset elements system is in away mode, every movement will be classified as an irregularity and causes the screen to change to alert mode. You can also trigger siren for this mode; so it will release its alert sound automatically in case of a detected movement.

The custom mode allows you to freely configure your sensors to adjust your system until it fits your specific needs. With this mode you can determine precisely, in which cases a sensor should give you a response on its status. And you can set, which changes in a sensor´s state should trigger the alarm. You can also activate siren separately for alerts here.
To configure the custom mode you have to choose the third area of the operating interface in your CONFIGURATION; a new point called SENSORS adds to the menu. If you click on EDIT you are able to adjust three parameters for every sensor and each of its states:

1.OFF: The sensor doesn´t send you any notifications (Changes of status are shown in the event list). 2.NOTIFICATION: The sensor notifies you about every change of state via push message.
        3. ALARM&NOTIFICATION: Every change of status triggers the alarm and you´ll get a push notification about the incident.

      • The protection of your system and your personal data are of great importance to us. To provide the highest possible level of security you should consider following these points:

        1. All updates concerning the app, the base or one of the sensors should be done immediately.
        2. You should only operate an encrypted WiFi at home, with a password as complex as possible.
        3. Furthermore you should at least meet our requirements when choosing a password for Gigaset; or even try to exceed them.
        4. Your chosen password should not be stored in plaintext under any circumstances.
5.You should change your password at regular intervals.

By following these steps you can help to improve the safety of your Gigaset elements system to a maximum.

      • This depends on the activity in your home. With an average use you can expect the batteries to last for approximately 2 years.

As soon as a sensor is disconnected from base it tries to reconnect itself. If this happens often or takes a while, it can reduce the battery life. Regarding this the first delivered sensors had a bug in the firmware. This bug has been fixed with the update from November 19th 2013 with the result that the sensors should remain firm with base.

      • The LED on the sensors is switched off during operation to save power. If it is flashing, it means that the sensor is too far away from the base station or not connected to base (either because it is offline or if the sensor is not connected to the base station).

The sensor LED also indicates the progress of the login process with base: if you hold down the pairing button on base as well as the one on the sensor simultaneously, both base and the sensor start to flash. When the flashing stops, you know that the sensor is logged in to base.

      • After a successful update the sensor or your base station is up to date. If you have carried out an update of door or window, it must now be set up again. This can be done from the system overview in the app:
        - First click on the sensor that has been updated and click on SET UP. Then simply follow the instructions in the app.

      • Yes. When you move you can connect base to your internet router the same way as before. Your sensors stay connected despite your moving. We still recommend to set up your sensors once again to make sure that they provide you with information as reliable as before.

Please also consider that you can´t reuse the adhesive strip when adjusting door, window and motion in your new home. Let us know and we will send you new strips for free.

      • To make sure that you can always find out when someone arrives at home, you can set up push messages and emails for this event under CONFIGURATION. Your Gigaset elements reports that someone has just come home, if door first detects a door opening and then motion detects a movement in the hallway (with up to 3 minutes between the opening of the door and detecting motion).

If someone opens the door to a visitor, no homecoming message is sent. You will also not receive a homecoming message if you have only just left your home. Homecoming messages are only sent if no movement has been registered at home for at least 5 minutes prior to the opening of a door.

You have several door and/or motion detectors?

"Door open + movement (within 3 mins) = homecoming" applies to all combinations of door and motion detectors (if in the previous 5 mins no movement has been detected at home).

      • To provide the highest security for your Gigaset system and the referring data, the cloud servers are located at a provider in Germany. This host guarantees data security and data privacy under the German data protection law.

      • You can sign up to our newsletter, which keeps you informed about Gigaset developments on a regular basis. Just click "Newsletter" in the footer and enter your email address.

In addition you have the opportunity to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

      • Which In-App packages are available and what advantages do they offer?

      • If you are adding a new door or window sensor to your Gigaset elements or want to set up the door sensor in your starter kit, you have to set this up in the app:

        1. In order to set up door or window, the sensor has to be in the correct position on the door or the window (for at least one minute before the setup procedure is started in the app).
        2. You will be asked by the app to open the door or the window. If your window or door is open at this time, close it and open the window/the door again immediately afterwards.
        3. Then you will be asked to close the door or the window. After you have done this, click on the button at the bottom of your app screen.

        It didn't work? Check if

         - the sensor is online (if the LED on the sensor flashes, the sensor is offline)
        - the battery is inserted in the sensor •whether the sensor has already been on the door/window for a minute before you started the setup
        - this is the correct sensor (if you're in the process of setting up multiple sensors)
        - it may work with the web app instead of the smartphone app (or vice versa)

        You are still having difficulties?

Please contact our Customer Services and describe the problem in as much detail as possible. The following information will be helpful:

        - which app (Android, iPhone, Web app) you tried
        - product name of your smartphone and version of your smartphone operating system (if applicable)
        - version of your Gigaset elements app (if applicable)
        - internet browser and version used (if applicable)
        - your computer's operating system (if applicable)

    • Rule Store
      • The Rule Store allows you to set up individual rules for your home. This way the Rule Store helps you to automatize various procedures in your home. You´re not only able to create simple rules like the automatic switching of a plug in a case of motion detection; i.e. a lamp that is steered by a plug could be turned on automatically as soon as a motion is registered in the hallway. Moreover you are capable to freely arrange very complex scenarios, which could also be steered without a smartphone – by using a button. For instance you could set up a rule that automatically switches to the Away mode on working days between 10 am and 5 pm, also turns off any plug in the house and activates the siren during this time; in addition you could extend the rule to be easily undone with a simple click on your button.
There are already some prearranged templates available when you start the Rule Store for the first time. These should help you to find easier access to the system. Generally all rules work based on the same formula: You choose an event, a sensor or another element of your system as a trigger, which starts a specific action at a predefined moment over a certain period of time.

    • Set up
      • Yes. The installation process is designed to allow every user to set up the starter kit independently at home - in less than half an hour. If you would like to add sensors to your Gigaset system, you can connect them to your base in just a few steps. Should you need help, please don´t hesitate to contact us directly.

    • Troubleshooting
      • Your base station is online when all three lights (LEDs) light up. If this isn’t the case, you can find out here what the reason could be. You can also look under SYSTEM OVERVIEW in the app to see if base is online. Simply click on base and then on HELP.

If a sensor is online, its LED is off. If the LED is flashing, the sensor is outside the range of base. If the sensor's LED is off, but the sensor is shown in the LED as offline, it is very likely that the batteries are flat.
