Munich, October 10th, 2013 – Gigaset elements, the new solution for connected living, has been on sale in the German specialty retail segment since September and connects people with their home on the basis of sensors and the cloud. “The safety starter kit of Gigaset elements will now also be available in France in a few days. This is the next step in internationalization of our Gigaset 2015 strategy,” says Gigaset CEO Charles Fränkl. By expanding into France, Gigaset will tap West-Europe’s third-largest smart home market.
Launched in Germany a few weeks ago, Gigaset elements, the intelligent, modular system for connected living, links people with their home and actively helps enhance everyday life. Its first component in France is likewise the safety starter kit, which creates security for the home when householders are away. Further solutions in the fields of energy and care are also planned in France in future.
Expansion into West-Europe’s third-largest market
France is currently the third-largest smart home market in West-Europe. Analysts assume that revenue in this market will more than double by 2018 to a total volume of more than one and a half billion euros. Gigaset has had a dense and established sales network in France for years, which will enable rapid and comprehensive rollout of Gigaset elements on the market there.
“Gigaset’s second-largest sales network is in France,” says Sebastien Joumard, Director of Gigaset France. “We supply around 5.300 outlets, or almost 95% of all relevant retailers for us in France. The safety starter kit is the perfect way for us to enter the smart home market. We’re firmly convinced that the French market is ready for our connected living solution and the related future possibilities in the field of energy and elderly care.”
Gigaset elements connects people with their home
Gigaset elements is an intelligent, sensor- and cloud-based system for one of the most important places in anyone’s life: the home. It can be extended and is easy to install, enabling everyone to finally have a smart home. Sensors register what is happening within the four walls and forward information reliably to the householder’s own smartphone. Thanks to its modular design, Gigaset elements offers a wide range of possibilities and extensions with application areas to suit everyone.
Internet of Things for the mass market
Beginning with the issue of safety, Gigaset elements opens up the future market of the Internet of Things, thus helping modern, mobile and better and better networked people to keep in touch with their home and so protect this sensitive and private place.
Gigaset elements will go on sale in France as of October 21st, 2013. The safety starter kit has a recommended retail price (RRP) of €199.99. The additional elements “door,” “motion,” “window” and “siren” each cost €49.99 (RRP). The smartphone app is free of charge and no further costs are incurred for using it.
