  • Notes on operating a Gigaset phone on the analog telephone connection of a router or modem

If you operate your Gigaset on the telephone connection of a router/modem, make sure that you have noticed the following points:

    • Use the phone cable from the Gigaset packaging.
    • If the router or modem does not have a phone jack, it is necessary to use the enclosed phone cable or the enclosed phone adapter of your router/modem.
    • Connect the cable to the router`s phone jack / phone port / FON port.
    • Please check if your telephone data (internet telephone number, provider-profile, …) for the used telephone connection in the router/modem were entered correctly.
    • Please make sure that your internet connection is working.

If the problem persists, please contact your provider.

  • Notes on Caller ID (CID)

By default, the number of the caller is shown in the display of your Gigaset telephone. You do not have to make any other settings on your Gigaset telephone. However, if the caller's number is not displayed, this can be due to the following:

    - You have not ordered CID from your network provider or
    - Your telephone is connected through a PBX that does not transmit all information.

Is your telephone connected through a PBX/gateway?
You can establish this by checking for an additional device connected between your telephone and house connection, e.g., a PBX, gateway etc.
In most cases, simply resetting this device will remedy the situation:
    - Briefly disconnect the power plug of your PBX.
    - Re-insert the plug and wait for the device to restart.

If the caller number is still not displayed:
Check the CID settings of your PBX and activate this function if necessary. In the user guide for the device, search for the term "CID" (or an alternative term such as "phone number transmission", "caller ID", ..).

If necessary, contact the device manufacturer. If this does not resolve the problem, it is possible that your network provider does not support the CID service for this number.

Have you ordered the CID service from your network provider?
Check whether your provider supports Caller ID (CID) and that the function has been activated for you. If necessary, contact your provider.

        Press MENU key

        Enter 6 5

Press "OK" to switch on/off the SOS mode

Before you can use the SOS function you have program the SOS mode! (see "How can I program the SOS mode?")

      • How does the SOS procedure operate?

Press the SOS/direct dialling key I on the base station and the device dials immedi-ately.

You have to press and hold the SOS/direct dialling key I on the handset to launch the function immediately.

If you just press the key briefly and don't hold it down, you have to confirm with Yes to prevent an emergency call from being initiated inadvertently.

The first SOS number is dialled as soon as you press the SOS direct dialling key. At the same time, the message "Emergency call being sent" is played back via the loudspeaker.

If the SOS call is answered, the callee automatically first hears the message "This is an emergency call". Your name is then spoken after this message. You must have programmed the SOS key accordingly in order for your name to be spoken. This is followed by the message "To answer the emergency call, please press key 5". If the callee now presses key 5, you can converse with one another.

If the callee does not answer the call, for example because s/he is not at home or his/her answering machine is switched on, the SOS procedure automatically dials the next SOS number. The SOS procedure switches automatically to the next SOS number after 60 seconds in the following cases:

        The call is not answered

The answering machine for the selected SOS number is switched on

        The SOS number is busy.

The procedure is repeated at most four times. If none of the calls is answered, the SOS procedure is ended with an error tone.

      • What is the SOS function/mode?

Your Gigaset is equipped with a special SOS function or SOS procedure. You can use this SOS procedure to request assistance in case of emergency. You can store up to four SOS numbers.

The SOS numbers can be stored on the SOS/direct dialling key I. In case of an emergency, you then only have to press the direct dialling key I. The SOS procedure is initiated when you press this key.

The SOS procedure automatically dials the first SOS number you entered. If this number is busy or if the person called is not at home, the SOS procedure automatically dials the next SOS number.

In order to use the SOS procedure, you have to first program the SOS/direct dialling key I and activate SOS mode.

When SOS mode is activated, the SOS LED lights up permanently in the SOS key on the handset and base station!

      • What must I consider by using the SOS mode?

Recipients of the emergency call must have set their telephones to tone dialling as other-wise confirmation of the SOS call with key5 will not be recognized.

During the entire procedure, all SOS keys flash on all registered handsets and on the base station. The message "Emergency call being sent" is issued on the handset that triggered the emergency call.

If an internal call is programmed additionally, the SOS call can also be answered by an internal user. The text "Emergency call" is output on all registered handsets and the base station.

You should perform a test run of the SOS procedure to ensure that SOS mode is programmed correctly. The police, rescue services or fire brigade must not be used for a test run.

Please note that the standby time of the handset will be reduced when SOS mode is activated.

The SOS LED lights up permanently when SOS mode is activated!
