Top 10 FAQs

  • Which In-App packages are available and what advantages do they offer?
  • A sensor is offline, why is it?

If a sensor is shown as offline in the app, it might be for two reasons:

1.The sensor or the sirens are located outside of the range of base (max 50 m inside buildings). In this case the LED flashes on the sensor.
2.The sensor battery is flat (does not apply to mains-powered sirens). If you get a message in the app that the battery is almost flat, this is most likely the reason. By clicking on the filter function in the event list you can find this message quickly. In this case the LED on the sensor does not flash.

    - You may have entered your email address incorrectly. Please try to register again.

You click on the confirmation link in the email, but cannot see any confirmation of registration in your browser?

    - For your security the registration link is only valid for 24 hours. If you registered, but clicked on the confirmation link more than 24 hours later, you have to re-register.

  • I am not receiving any push messages, why?

If you don't receive any push messages from Gigaset elements on your smartphone, please check the following:

    - Is your smartphone connected with your user account? This can be done in your Gigaset elements app under CONFIGURATION, in an event category (e.g. homecoming) click on EDIT next to NOTIFICATIONS and check to see if your smartphone appears in the displayed list. If this is not the case, click on ADD --> smartphone at the bottom of the same screen to add the smartphone to your account.

    - Have you selected those events you want to receive push messages for under CONFIGURATION in the Gigaset elements app?

    - Is your smartphone connected to the Internet via WiFi or 3G? Push messages will be received faster via WiFi than via 3G.

    - Is your smartphone equipped with the latest OS? If your Apple device runs on an iOS lower than 8.1.1, most push messages will not be sent.

Please note that the transfer of push messages is dependent on Apple (for iPhone) and Google (for smartphones with Android), who cannot guarantee that 100% of the push messages will be transferred.

If you still don't receive any push messages, please notify our Customer Services. Please give as detailed information as possible, so that we can fix your problem as soon as possible.

  • Why do I have to click the base and sensor pairing buttons at the same time?

Our main target is to ensure that your Gigaset elements is as safe as possible. To guarantee that only you can connect your sensor with your base in your environment, it´s inevitable that you click the base and the sensor pairing button at the same time. Please consider that sensor and base station shouldn´t be more than two arm-lenghts away from each other.

  • How can I extend my Gigaset elements system?

You can already upgrade your starter kit with door and window sensors, motion detectors, an alarm siren and a camera:

     - door is the door sensor: He tells your smartphone, when somebody leaves or enters your home. It also alerts you in the app if somebody tries to open the door violently. If this happens, he emits a noise to draw attention.
    - window is the window sensor. He informs you if a window gets opened, closed or tilted. It also alerts you, if a window gets opened, when nobody should be at home.
    - motion is the motion detector. It detects movements in a room and notifies you, if somebody moves inside your home although you don´t want any company.
    - siren is the alarm siren. If your Gigaset elements system recognizes a break-in, it will release a loud deterrent noise.
    - camera is the new sense for your Gigaset elements system. In case of a notification you are now able to observe the incident immediately via your app. The recording function gives you the possibility to save events in the cloud for later observation.

In the future Gigaset elements will be constantly expanded by new features and functions to make your life easier. Simply sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with those developments.

  • Why do I have to install door and window?

In order to be able to report a door or window opening or closing correctly, door and window have to know their base. By confirming once in the app, that the door and window are closed, you inform the sensor that this is the starting point. In specialists jargon this process is called calibration. Subsequent to this installation of door and window they can now correctly differ between opening and closing.

  • I can't close the alarm in the app

If it is not possible to close a burglar alarm in the Android or iPhone-app, it may be due to the fact that your smartphone is not connected with your account. To mute the alarm without your smartphone, go to the Web app. There you can close the alarm. Then make sure your smartphone is connected to your account

  • Events are not displayed in the app: Causes and solutions

If you don't get any events from a sensor displayed in your app, please check if the sensor is connected with base. Go to SYSTEM OVERVIEW and check whether there is a problem with the sensor (shown by a red warning symbol). If this is the case, you can check what the problem is by clicking on HELP.

If the sensor is offline, you can also recognize this by the LED on the sensor flashing. The sensor may be located outside of the range of base (50 metres inside buildings).

If the problem stays, it sometimes helps to remove the sensor batteries and then re-insert them again. Should problems persist, please contact our Customer Services.

  • What possibilities does the Rule Store offer?

The Rule Store allows you to set up individual rules for your home. This way the Rule Store helps you to automatize various procedures in your home. You´re not only able to create simple rules like the automatic switching of a plug in a case of motion detection; i.e. a lamp that is steered by a plug could be turned on automatically as soon as a motion is registered in the hallway. Moreover you are capable to freely arrange very complex scenarios, which could also be steered without a smartphone – by using a button. For instance you could set up a rule that automatically switches to the Away mode on working days between 10 am and 5 pm, also turns off any plug in the house and activates the siren during this time; in addition you could extend the rule to be easily undone with a simple click on your button.
There are already some prearranged templates available when you start the Rule Store for the first time. These should help you to find easier access to the system. Generally all rules work based on the same formula: You choose an event, a sensor or another element of your system as a trigger, which starts a specific action at a predefined moment over a certain period of time.

Please be aware that the Rule Store is still running in an experimental beta phase; some features might not be available at the moment or need some sort of fine-tuning. If you encounter problems or failures concerning this matter, we would be glad to receive your feedback. Simply contact our customer service to share your experience with us.

      • How can I program my button?

Every single button is separately programmable; this way every user can set up his individual button. Please keep in mind that only the latest configured rule can be processed by the button. Simply go to the RULE STORE to set up a new configuration. Under RULE TEMPLATES you can select the different click types of button (short, long, very long, double), i.e.TEMPLATE BUTTON – DOUBLE PRESS. Now a new surface pops up; you can select the desired button on the first field. Then you can choose the action to be executed in the second field. There you might configure that one or more plugs should be activated in case of a double click. Finally you´ll have to name your rule and confirm the process.
Now you´ve configured your button to function as a remote control for your plugs. With the rule store you are even able to configure individual alarms, set up rules to switch between home and away mode without your smartphone or control even more complex scenarios with your button.

Please be aware that the Rule Store is still running in an experimental beta phase; some features might not be available at the moment or need some sort of fine-tuning. If you encounter problems or failures concerning this matter, we would be glad to receive your feedback. Simply contact our customer service to share your experience with us.

      • Is it possible to control the alarm with my button?

If you would like to use your button to switch between Home and Away mode without a smartphone, you´ll have to configure to separate rules. Go to the RULE TEMPLATE in your RULE STORE; there you might configure i.e. that your system switches to away mode if you perform a short press. Therefore you have to combine the TEMPLATE BUTTON – SHORT PRESS with the action AWAY MODE ON. If you want to use the same button to deactivate the button you only have to select a different click type. Choose i.e. TEMPLATE BUTTON – DOUBLE PRESS and combine it with the action HOME MODE ON.
Now your button is set up to activate the away mode with a short click and deactivate it by performing a double click.

To make sure you can enter and leave your home without haste you’ve also got the possibility to customize time delays for the switching of modes. This function determines the amount of time that has to pass by until an alert goes off or the away mode is activated. If you want to set up a delay for the activation of the alarm mode you simply have to set a timespan for the away mode within the configuration of a new button rule. As shown above you have to combine the TEMPLATE BUTTON – SHORT PRESS with the action AWAY MODE ON i.e.; then simply choose the amount of time that you need to leave your house. The system stays in the last mode until the time has run out; after that it switches into the away mode.
If you need more time when coming home instead, then you might set up a delay for the away mode. Simply go to your apps CONFIGURATION and choose a timespan for your DELAY ALARM under INTRUSION. No alert will go off within this timespan, so you’ll have enough time to switch back to the home mode without a hassle – using your button.

      • What click types are available for my button and how do I configure them?

Your button is able to differentiate between four types of clicks: Short, long, very long and double. Go to your RULE STORE to configure them separately:
        1. Click on TEMPLATE BUTTON – SHORT PRESS
        2. Choose your button
        3. Select the timeframe MONDAY-FRIDAY
        4. Go to MODE
        5. Choose the AWAY MODE
        6. Confirm the process
        7. Name and describe your rule

Now a short click on your button activates the Away mode; you can even add more sensors, plugs etc.

Please be aware that the Rule Store is still running in an experimental beta phase; some features might not be available at the moment or need some sort of fine-tuning. If you encounter problems or failures concerning this matter, we would be glad to receive your feedback. Simply contact our customer service to share your experience with us.

      • Why does button emit a buzzer sound and how can I deactivate it?

The buzzer is a signal to show you, which type of click (short, long, very long, double) you have used. Your button emits a short sound in case of a short click, a very long tone in case of a very long click and so on. You can practice how the click types differentiate with the INFO control button in the elements App.
If you want to turn off the buzzer you have to select your button in the SYSTEM OVERVIEW. Click on EDIT and deactivate it under BUZZER. The sensors LED still indicates which type of click you have used at the moment.

After you have turned the buzzer off - please press the button. You will hear the tone but the next time you click it the tone is gone. This is as the button needs the connection to your phone to get the order to "turn of buzzer" and than it works.

So. Open System overview - turn off buzzer - click button once (with tone) click button again (not tone) . Same occurs the other way around

      • How can I filter the event list?

You´ve got different options to filter your events in the Web app:
You can either filter the event list by date (FROM – TO) or look through it by searching for specific types of events:

        1. door
        2 .window
        3. motion
        4. siren
        5. homecoming
        6. alarm

This list of options will be extended in the future to make the searching process more comfortable for you. Filtering by event types is also possible in the IOS and Android app. You can find it right above the events, where you can choose to search for a desired type.

      • How do I install the app on my iPad?

To download the Gigaset elements app on your iPad, go to the App Store and filter by device: "All". The app will be visible and you can download it. For iOS 7.0, choose the "iPhone" option.

Currently, there is no custom app for the iPad. Unlike the iPad, it is not possible to download the smartphone app on an Android tablet.

      • How does the time delay affect the away mode?

The time delay determines the amount of time in the away mode that has to pass by until an alert goes off. This way you don’t have to set your preferred mode in advance; instead you’ve got enough time to get home stress-free. If you set up a time delay of 30 seconds for example, you can switch to the home mode after coming home using your smartphone or a button. If you’re not fast enough to change the mode within this timeframe an automatic alert is triggered.
Thanks to this feature you can configure individually, how much time you’ll need to enter your home calmly. Simply go to your apps’ CONFIGURATION and choose a timespan for your DELAY ALARM under INTRUSION. Please be aware that short response times contribute to your systems safety; we recommend a maximum delay of 15 seconds.

      • Is it possible to give permission to other people to receive notifications from my home?

Currently there are two possibilities to give your housemates, neighbors or friends permission to receive information from your Gigaset elements:

         - via email: You simply enter the desired person´s email address in your app and define the events that the person is to be notified about.

         - via push notification: You offer a person to download the Gigaset elements app and to log in using your user name and password. Accordingly they will receive push notifications and information from your home just like you do and can inform themselves about events in the app. All of you can be logged in simultaneously.

The possibility of being able to send text messages is planned for the future.

      • I´m not able to log into the web app, even if I try various browsers. Why?

If the webapp is not even accessible with a different browser, it probably traces back to your security settings. In most cases the login is impossible because your browser doesn´t allow any “third-party cookies”. Activate this option in the settings to use the web app again.

If you don´t want to restrict your security settings by permitting third-party cookies, you have to allow the cookies of following websites separately:

        - gigaset-elements.com
        - api.gigaset-elements.de
        - im.gigaset-elements.de
        - my.gigaset-elements.com

      • My app is not available in my language, why?

If the Gigaset elements app is not shown in your language, it is most likely because your smartphone or iPhone does not have the language as the system language. As soon as you change the system language of the smartphone to your language, the app will also be displayed in your language when you next open it.

After this you might change the system language back to your preferred language. English is then stored as the preferred app language (applies only to iPhones).

How to change the system language on your iPhone to your preferred language: Settings > General > International > Language > Choose language (English, German e.g.)

How to change the system language on your smartphone with Android: Settings > My Device > Language and input > Language > Choose language (English, German e.g.)

      • When is my password strong enough?

In order to provide best protection for your Gigaset elements system, your password must be at least 8 characters long, with at least

        - 1 number
        - 1 special character (+, *, #, !, etc.)
        - 1 upper case letter
        - 1 lower case letter

In addition, your password is not allowed to contain your first or last name.

      • Which are the best internet browsers to use for Gigaset elements?

For the optimal usage of Gigaset elements we recommend the following browsers:
        - Chrome (latest version)
        - Fire Fox (latest version)
        - Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11
        - Safari 7

      • Which languages are selectable in the app?

Currently the app is available in German, French, English, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Czech. To make sure, that the English version of the Gigaset elements app starts, you only have to set your smartphone´s system language to English.

      • Which mobile OS are compatible with Gigaset elements?

To ensure that your smartphone is compatible with Gigaset elements, you can simply look up your mobile OS in the following list of supported systems.

        iOS: > iOS 6

        Android: > Android 4.4

      • Why do I get occasional requests from the android widget to relog into the app?

If there’s a program installed or a function activated that deletes background processes automatically, the functionality of your elements widget might be impaired. This might be due to the automatic elimination of processes, since it cuts the connection to your Gigaset elements App; this makes a relogin to the app necessary.
Some of these programs make it possible to exclude specific apps from the elimination; simply add the Gigaset elements app to one of these lists to ensure the functionality of the widget. Please contact the programs producer if you’re not sure, whether the program supports exclusion or not.

      • Window or door status shows "Not clear", why?

The following message is displayed on the dashboard under the door or window status: "Not clear"?

If a sensor has temporarily gone offline, it cannot be determined whether the door or the window is opened or closed. In this case it is theoretically possible that someone could open the door while a sensor is offline. That is why the message "Not clear" appears. Only when the sensor is back online and the next time the door or the window is opened, is the sensor status is declared.

      • Is it possible to use my button while I´m on the go?

Basically button is designed to be used inside your home with a maximal distance of 50m to its base. Theoretically you might carry it along to your workplace, so you can activate the alarm while leaving the house and turn it off when you´re coming back. Please consider that the battery consumption rises rapidly if you use your button outside of your home. Following aspects have an influence on its battery:
        1. Your button will constantly try to connect with its base
        2. Accidental pushing of the button consumes energy too
        3. Your button will be shown as offline as long as it´s out of range
        4. Your button will not react to input until it´s reconnected to base

For these reasons we recommend that you only use your button inside your home within the range of base.

      • Where should I place my button?

You can freely decide how to use your button; whether you would like to mount it straight to a surface and use it stationary or carry it along with you for a flexible usage anywhere inside your home. It only has to be inside the range of its base; with a maximal distance of 50m inside and up to 300m outside. You might place your button i.e. next to your wardrobe to activate the away mode with a simple click when leaving the house.

Use the included adhesive strips and the wall mount to attach button to the desired surface. Simply attach the wall mount to the wall next to your wardrobe and install the button with its pushbutton in front. Thanks to the wall mount you can detach your button anytime and use it flexible.

      • Can I connect my sensors to my Gigaset telephone base?

No. It is not possible to connect the sensors to the classical DECT base station designed for telephony service.

      • Can I delete my data from Gigaset elements?

If you want to delete data which is gathered inside the app, i.e. to improve the clarity, you can simply erase events from the list. Here we will give you more information about this process.

To make a reset of your Gigaset elements system, i.e. to adjust it individually for a new apartment, you only have to unclaim your base. You can find the necessary steps here. As soon as you have unclaimed the base station you can register it again and set new friendly names for your sensors or modify the configurations for your new home.

It is also possible to delete all your personal data at Gigaset if you are no longer satisfied with your system. The deletion of your personal data from Gigaset elements works as follows:

        1. Log into the web app and go to EDIT PROFILE.
        2. Click on DELETE ACCOUNT in the lower left corner.
        3. Confirm the process.
        4. You have to enter your password to provide that only you are able to delete your account.
        5. Click on OK.
        6. You´ll get a confirmation via email.
        7. Click on the verification link in the mail to accept the deletion.
        8. Your personal data will be deleted within the next working day.
During this process your base will also be unclaimed from your account, so now you can sell your Gigaset elements or give it as a present. All events and settings will be erased too.

      • Can I get my Gigaset elements approved as an alarm system by my insurance company?

No. The starter kit offers you an increased sense of security at an attractive price. It is an information system to notify you about events at your home. It is not a professional and certified alarm system, so it will not be approved by your insurance company.

      • Do I have to expect false alarms?

Gigaset elements only notifies you of an attempted break in, if door recognizes an opening by force. So you don´t have to worry that somebody, who has a key to your home, will trigger an alarm by mistake.

The door sensor is very sensitive and only sets off an alarm if it senses very strong vibrations similar to a kick against the door.

      • Do I need to activate Gigaset elements so that it alerts me?

If you leave your home, door ensures that you will be notified immediately if someone attempts to get through the door by force (using hard punches or kicks) into your home. You don't need to activate anything for door to get alerted. As soon as you leave your home, door will notify you automatically.

If someone attempts to gain access to your home by manipulating your door lock or through a window, when in fact no one should be at home, you can be notified of this if you activate the away mode under CONFIGURATION. If this is the case, door and window sensors will immediately report to you by email or push message.

      • How do I know if a sensor is online?

If a sensor is online, its LED is off and it will be displayed as online in the app (go to the SYSTEM OVERVIEW in the app, select the sensor and click on HELP to view the status). If the LED is flashing, the sensor is outside the range of base.
If the sensor's LED is off, but the sensor is shown in the LED as offline, it is very likely that the batteries are flat.

      • How secure is my data at Gigaset elements?

Protection of personal data is of great importance to us. We conduct our activities in compliance with applicable regulations on data privacy protection and data security. We only collect personal data (f.e. name, address, phone number and email address) if they are needed for a contractual relationship or if you make them available by your own choice (e.g. during the registration process).

Your data is only passed on to third parties, if it is necessary for the purpose of contract execution or billing.

For the purpose of using your Gigaset elements, datastreams that flow from the sensors via the base station to the Gigaset elements server environment are recorded anonymously so Gigaset Communications GmbH is not able to link certain people to their system use.

Please also note our detailed rules concerning data protection as well as our terms of use.

      • How sensitive are the sensors to external influences?

The sensors work reliable within these parameters:

        - Between 20% and 75% humidity
        - Between 5 and +45 degree Celsius operating temperature

Gigaset elements´ sensors are not protected from spray water; permanent exposure to humidity or cold might damage them as well. So they should not be used outside or in moist areas.

      • How strong is the radio transmission exposure?

The wireless sensors are usually in an almost-off mode and only activate the radio channel for a short period of time, for example if data has to be transferred.

Because of the DECT-ULE standard an insignificant amount of emission occurs within these transfer times, which furthermore lies far below the legal limit of 2 W/kg.

      • How will I be informed about incidents in my home?

You can receive push notifications on your smartphone or have emails sent to your address. You can also take a look at your smartphone app or log in to your personal section anytime: https://my.gigaset-elements.com

      • I have started an update, what do I do now?

Once you've started an update you don't need to do anything else. Updating the base station usually takes a few minutes, updating the sensors can take between 15 and 30 minutes (since it is transmitted wirelessly).

You can see in your event list, when an update has been completed. Please note that door and window need to be calibrated after a successful update.

      • Is it possible to use Gigaset elements´ sensors in humid areas?

window, door, motion and base are not protected against spray water, so we can´t recommend to use them in moist areas. Persistent humidity might also damage the sensors.

      • My battery is almost flat, what should I do?

If your system shows you that the battery in a sensor is almost flat, please change it for an original Gigaset battery.
Alternatively, you can use a lithium CR-123A 3V battery. These are available in the most electronics shops. The following batteries have been tested by the Gigaset elements team and can be used with our products. Recommended are

        Duracell camera battery 123, CR17345, 3.0V, 1400mAh
        Panasonic lithium CR123A, 3V, 1400mAh
        Panasonic CR123A / CR123 / CR17345 lithium battery, 3V, 1400mAh
        Energizer EL 123 AP CR 17345 1400mAh

        and others.

Should your battery become flat due to a technical fault significantly earlier than the expected average life span of one year, please contact our Customer Services. We will do our best to help you here.

      • What are the differences between home, away and custom mode?

To improve your control over the system you´ve got the possibility to choose between the three modes Home, Away and Custom. Simply go to your CONFIGURATION and choose the required mode from the operating interface; they differentiate in the following features:

In the home mode your sensors give you regular updates on their status or can notify you as soon as their condition changes. You can also get push notifications for homecoming events or updates of the system status. Your app only switches to alert mode if a suspected break-in is detected; optionally you can activate your siren to go off in this case.

If there is nobody at home over a long period of time, you can activate the away mode. During this time you´ll get instant notifications for every single event at your home. While your Gigaset elements system is in away mode, every movement will be classified as an irregularity and causes the screen to change to alert mode. You can also trigger siren for this mode; so it will release its alert sound automatically in case of a detected movement.

The custom mode allows you to freely configure your sensors to adjust your system until it fits your specific needs. With this mode you can determine precisely, in which cases a sensor should give you a response on its status. And you can set, which changes in a sensor´s state should trigger the alarm. You can also activate siren separately for alerts here.
To configure the custom mode you have to choose the third area of the operating interface in your CONFIGURATION; a new point called SENSORS adds to the menu. If you click on EDIT you are able to adjust three parameters for every sensor and each of its states:

1.OFF: The sensor doesn´t send you any notifications (Changes of status are shown in the event list). 2.NOTIFICATION: The sensor notifies you about every change of state via push message.
        3. ALARM&NOTIFICATION: Every change of status triggers the alarm and you´ll get a push notification about the incident.

      • What can I do to increase the security of my Gigaset elements system?

The protection of your system and your personal data are of great importance to us. To provide the highest possible level of security you should consider following these points:

        1. All updates concerning the app, the base or one of the sensors should be done immediately.
        2. You should only operate an encrypted WiFi at home, with a password as complex as possible.
        3. Furthermore you should at least meet our requirements when choosing a password for Gigaset elements; or even try to exceed them.
        4. Your chosen password should not be stored in plaintext under any circumstances.
5.You should change your password at regular intervals.

By following these steps you can help to improve the safety of your Gigaset elements system to a maximum.

      • What is the expected batteries service life?

This depends on the activity in your home. With an average use you can expect the batteries to last for approximately 2 years.

As soon as a sensor is disconnected from base it tries to reconnect itself. If this happens often or takes a while, it can reduce the battery life. Regarding this the first delivered sensors had a bug in the firmware. This bug has been fixed with the update from November 19th 2013 with the result that the sensors should remain firm with base.

      • What is the function of the LED on the sensors?

The LED on the sensors is switched off during operation to save power. If it is flashing, it means that the sensor is too far away from the base station or not connected to base (either because it is offline or if the sensor is not connected to the base station).

The sensor LED also indicates the progress of the login process with base: if you hold down the pairing button on base as well as the one on the sensor simultaneously, both base and the sensor start to flash. When the flashing stops, you know that the sensor is logged in to base.

      • What should I do after a successful update?

After a successful update the sensor or your base station is up to date. If you have carried out an update of door or window, it must now be set up again. This can be done from the system overview in the app:
        - First click on the sensor that has been updated and click on SET UP. Then simply follow the instructions in the app.

      • When I move, can I simply take my Gigaset elements with me?

Yes. When you move you can connect base to your internet router the same way as before. Your sensors stay connected despite your moving. We still recommend to set up your sensors once again to make sure that they provide you with information as reliable as before.

Please also consider that you can´t reuse the adhesive strip when adjusting door, window and motion in your new home. Let us know and we will send you new strips for free.

      • When exactly do I receive homecoming events?

To make sure that you can always find out when someone arrives at home, you can set up push messages and emails for this event under CONFIGURATION. Your Gigaset elements reports that someone has just come home, if door first detects a door opening and then motion detects a movement in the hallway (with up to 3 minutes between the opening of the door and detecting motion).

If someone opens the door to a visitor, no homecoming message is sent. You will also not receive a homecoming message if you have only just left your home. Homecoming messages are only sent if no movement has been registered at home for at least 5 minutes prior to the opening of a door.

You have several door and/or motion detectors?

"Door open + movement (within 3 mins) = homecoming" applies to all combinations of door and motion detectors (if in the previous 5 mins no movement has been detected at home).

      • Where are the servers of the Gigaset elements cloud located?

To provide the highest security for your Gigaset elements system and the referring data, the cloud servers are located at a provider in Germany. This host guarantees data security and data privacy under the German data protection law.

      • Where will I be informed about news and topics concerning Gigaset elements?

You can sign up to our newsletter, which keeps you informed about Gigaset developments on a regular basis. Just click "Newsletter" in the footer and enter your email address.

In addition you have the opportunity to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

      • Which In-App packages are available and what advantages do they offer?
      • Why do I have to click the base and sensor pairing buttons at the same time?

Our main target is to ensure that your Gigaset elements is as safe as possible. To guarantee that only you can connect your sensor with your base in your environment, it´s inevitable that you click the base and the sensor pairing button at the same time. Please consider that sensor and base station shouldn´t be more than two arm-lenghts away from each other.

      • Window/door won't set up, now what?

If you are adding a new door or window sensor to your Gigaset elements or want to set up the door sensor in your starter kit, you have to set this up in the app:

        1. In order to set up door or window, the sensor has to be in the correct position on the door or the window (for at least one minute before the setup procedure is started in the app).
        2. You will be asked by the app to open the door or the window. If your window or door is open at this time, close it and open the window/the door again immediately afterwards.
        3. Then you will be asked to close the door or the window. After you have done this, click on the button at the bottom of your app screen.

        It didn't work? Check if

         - the sensor is online (if the LED on the sensor flashes, the sensor is offline)
        - the battery is inserted in the sensor •whether the sensor has already been on the door/window for a minute before you started the setup
        - this is the correct sensor (if you're in the process of setting up multiple sensors)
        - it may work with the web app instead of the smartphone app (or vice versa)

        You are still having difficulties?

Please contact our Customer Services and describe the problem in as much detail as possible. The following information will be helpful:

        - which app (Android, iPhone, Web app) you tried
        - product name of your smartphone and version of your smartphone operating system (if applicable)
        - version of your Gigaset elements app (if applicable)
        - internet browser and version used (if applicable)
        - your computer's operating system (if applicable)

  • R
    • Rule Store

    • Update
      • There's an update available for button or plug, how do I start it?

You will find out if an update is available for button or plug in two ways:

1.Under EVENTS you will see the entry that an update is available for a sensor or siren
2.Under SYSTEM OVERVIEW you can see if a sensor has an orange symbol attached. If you click on this sensor and the "Update" option appears, there is an update available for this sensor.

To start an update for a sensor, go through the following steps:

        1.Go to SYSTEM OVERVIEW
2.Click on the sensor marked in orange
3.Click on UPDATE The sensor update can take up to 10 minutes. You will be informed by push message, when the update has been completed. Make sure you have activated push messages for system status messages under CONFIGURATION. Alternatively you can also see if the update has been completed under EVENTS in the app. Please note that you can only carry out one update at a time.

It didn't work? Make sure that no other update is currently being carried out and that the sensor is online and try again after waiting a short time. If this still doesn't work, our Customer Services will be happy to help you.
