Move to the future: Gigaset Munich changes location

The headquarters of the Munich-based telecommunications company Gigaset is moving to another location in the city. The new head office of the European market leader in DECT cordless phones will be the Seidl Forum at the heart of Munich. As a result, the company is moving from its former site at Siemensstadt in Obersendling, where the company had its roots, to the center of Munich.

For nine years, Hofmannstraße in Obersendling was the center of fixed-line telecommunications in Europe. Back in 2006, 330 Gigaset employees moved into the premises at the heart of Siemensstadt as part of the company that still bore the name Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices GmbH & Co. KG. At its peak, a total of almost 28,000 employees worked at the campus.

“Gigaset experienced successful years at Hofmannstraße and played a major part in shaping fixed-line telephony,” says Charles Fränkl, CEO of Gigaset AG. “However, we began in 2012 to adapt the company to changing market conditions. The move to new premises is therefore one step in our agenda toward creating the new Gigaset.”

Relocation is a sign of the strategic realignment
Production at the German company with its long tradition will still be performed at the factory in Bocholt. Gigaset is thus the last telecommunications company to make its products in Germany and so stand for “quality made in Germany.”

A new Product Center was opened in Düsseldorf in 2013 – the first step in the company’s geographical restructuring as part of “Gigaset 2015,” the strategy intended to transform the company from a pure hardware vendor to a modern telecommunications service provider.

“The move to the new business premises in Munich has great symbolic character for all of us at Gigaset,” adds Fränkl. “We've experienced the greatest changes in the company’s history in the past few years and achieved key successes in 2013. The relocation means we’re embarking on a completely new chapter in our history.”

Gigaset, now in the heart of Munich
Gigaset’s new business premises offer space of around 2,000 square meters and are situated in the Seidl Forum in the heart of Munich. The building’s architecture is a union of two courtyards, three foyers and four houses. Everything is distinguished by great openness. Although there are individual units, they are in contact with each other and so represent an interlinked whole. Prominent neighbors such as Moët Hennessy Deutschland GmbH also have their premises in the same building.

The Seidl Forum itself could not be situated in a more beautiful ambience. Munich’s museum quar-ter extends to one side of it, while on the other there are numerous cafés, stores and restaurants. The Königsplatz, a square that is a popular meeting place in the summer and is situated right in the midst the cultural heart of Munich, can be reached on foot.

Gigaset’s new headquarters will be located at the address below as of November 12, 2014. The phone and fax numbers of the Munich site will remain the same.
