Gigaset pro Maxwell sneak preview

Munich, June 24, 2013 – Announced for the first time at IFA 2012, the innovative full-touch video IP phone from Gigaset pro has been generating excitement among business customers for some time. Gigaset pro is now publishing further product details and new photos and film material of the Android-based 10.1” full-touch phone named Maxwell.

Maxwell is an IP-based HD video phone with a touch screen, an optionally cordless handset and the Android operating system. It is aimed at business customers who attach particular importance to added-value functions, i.e. who wish to combine cloud-based company address books, e-mail accounts or CRM files with Maxwell. Apart from its 10.1” full-touch display, Maxwell offers an innovative and unique user interface based on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and enriched by telephony functions developed by Gigaset pro.

“At first glance Maxwell is primarily a desktop phone. Thanks to our modular development concept, however, we have succeeded in creating a premium business phone that can be used in a wide range of different scenarios,” says Christian Reindl, Head of Product Management at Gigaset pro and Chief Product Owner of Maxwell. “With Maxwell we are embarking on a product portfolio that is new for Gigaset pro and creating a separate platform for professional desktop phone products. As part of that, we are unswervingly committed to integrating Android, which will also be used in other products such as the SL930.”

Customizability and usability
Maxwell offers an unprecedented variety of possibilities just with its handset alone. Apart from the traditional corded handset, a cordless variant can also be used. Left-handed persons can even place the handset on the other side of the Maxwell. The handsets come in different designs – from high-quality real leather to a natural wooden decor. A high-quality metal stand ensures a slip-free and secure footing – a small, yet important detail in use of a full-touch phone. Alternatively, Maxwell can be wall-mounted with an optional module, e.g. as an internal communications terminal.

Unlimited possibilities
“Maxwell is to stand for premium quality in every respect,” adds Christian Reindl. Newly developed and innovative operating concepts mean that telephony processes that used to be complex, such as forwarding of several simultaneous calls, have never been so easy. Compatibility and interoperability are further factors that guarantee success: Apart from the internal address book with space for 10,000 entries, company address books can be integrated via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) and, as customary with all Android phones, directories of well-known online providers can also be synchronized.

The integrated camera permits video telephony in HD quality (720p) without the need for additional equipment such as a video telephony server. Integration of standardized codecs permits smooth connections to phones and applications from other vendors. Maxwell also supports the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) standard and offers compatibility with many familiar telephone systems and providers.

However, Maxwell is not intended solely for use at an individual workplace. Thanks to its three integrated loudspeakers and high-end HD audio quality, Maxwell is ideally suited for use in meeting rooms. For video conferences with a large number of people, an additional camera can be connected via USB and the picture transferred to a beamer or screen via HDMI.

Maxwell will go on sale through authorized specialty retailers as of the end of 2013. You can find more information on the official Gigaset pro Internet site.
