Munich, August 31, 2015 - Being available on your smartphone and enjoying the convenience of a cordless phone at the same time – it's easy with the new Gigaset MobileDock LM550: It connects the smartphone via Bluetooth and DECT to the fixed-line phone and forwards incoming calls directly to the DECT handset. As a result, the innovative MobileDock integrates the smartphone perfectly in the home's DECT telephone system.
The Gigaset MobileDock LM550 is the ideal device for connecting Android smartphones to fixed-line networks at home. Thanks to Bluetooth 4.0, a rapid recharging function and DECT connection, telephony in your own four walls is transformed into an experience offering unparalleled convenience. MobileDock connects up to two smartphones simultaneously with the fixed-line network via Bluetooth and DECT. Incoming calls are thus directly forwarded to all registered handsets or the handset of the user's choice – with all the convenience of the fixed-line phone and DECT voice quality.
The LM550 can also be used as a permanent place to keep your own smartphone and as a charging station for it. In order to offer a visually perfect solution without cable spaghetti, the MobileDock comes with a short micro USB cable whose connector magnetically locks into the right position. Call forwarding means that no calls are lost while the phone is being charged – users remain mobile by being able to take calls conveniently on their DECT handsets. Thanks to the rapid recharging function (up to 1,500 mA), users can always leave home with a fully charged smartphone battery.
"Our MobileDock simply turns our customers' smartphone into part of their fixed-network system at home," says Dr. Kurt Aretz, Head of the Business Unit Voice Products. "The LM550 links every Android smartphone with the convenience of the DECT phone system. We're convinced: Nothing is more convenient than answering incoming calls with your own fixed-line phone. With the Gigaset MobileDock, we bring the mobile world to our customers' home."
The LM550 is controlled by means of the MobileDock app, which can be obtained from the Google Play Store. The app lets users decide on which of the handsets they would like to take a call. As soon as the LM550 is connected with a Gigaset DECT phone from the current C and S classes, the forwarded calls are shown on the handset along with the caller's name or number. The caller display function must be activated on the smartphone to permit that. With all other Gigaset systems and DECT systems from other vendors, calls are forwarded as a simple internal call without the name being displayed.
Users who no longer wish to have calls forwarded can deactivate the function by pressing a button directly on the MobileDock – nevertheless, the connected smartphone will still be recharged. Two status LEDs indicate whether the Bluetooth and DECT connections are established.
The MobileDock is the ideal solution where there is inadequate GSM coverage in buildings. It is positioned where the reception is good, for example, by a window, and from there it forwards the incoming calls based on the DECT standard up to 50 meters to the phone system. The MobileDock's consumption is extremely low (less than 0.8 watts) thanks to the economic power supply unit. In standby mode, the MobileDock is radiation-free if the base station and all registered handsets support ECO DECT. The transmitting power is adapted automatically to reflect the distance to the base station. The MobileDock is compatible with all smartphones that are based on Android 4.4 or above and have the wireless standard Bluetooth 4.0.
The Android version of the Gigaset MobileDock LM550 in black will be available from specialty retailers and in the Gigaset online shop at the recommended retail price of €59.99 as of mid-September 2015. It will be followed by the white version LM550i for iOS with a USB lightning recharging cable at a RRP of €69.99 at the end of October.
