Munich, September 4, 2015 - With its new S850 cordless phone, Gigaset is presenting an intelligent contact manager for convenient home telephony. The successor to the successful Gigaset S810 impresses with inimitable ruggedness, a host of extra features and outstanding audio quality. The S850A GO variant with answering machine and the all new Gigaset GO functionality and the compact additional S850HX handset make this model a practical all-rounder for telephony of the future.
With its S850, Gigaset offers all the merits of the S810 in a new design. "The successor is perfectly tailored to the high standards of users who expect not only outstanding audio quality from a cordless phone, but also intuitive operation and an elegant design," says Dr. Kurt Aretz, Head of the Business Unit Voice Products. "The Gigaset S850 meets all these requirements, while the S850A GO model with answering machine and Voice-over-IP connectivity even surpasses them."
The high-quality TFT display with 65,000 colors ensures a brilliant view of the essentials at all times. The S850's background can be set to black or white to suit tastes, whereas the large font that can be optionally activated for call lists and addresses and the illuminated keypad enhance the device’s convenience. The phone's clear menu structure, individually selectable color and non-slip keys round out the S850's overall user-friendliness perfectly. The device's excellent acoustics also leave nothing to be desired. Hands-free calls become a genuine pleasure thanks to the handset’s separate loudspeaker complying with the full-duplex standard. A headset, for which there are different hands-free and headset profiles, can also be connected via Bluetooth 2.0.
Convenient home office
Up to three individual phone numbers can be stored for each of the up to 500 possible contacts in this organizational miracle. Contacts can also be synchronized with Outlook quickly and easily and hence transferred simply via the electronic calling card format vCard from the smartphone or PC to the fixed-line system. To enable a better overview, every individual contact can be looked up by surname or first name using a search mask.
The Gigaset S850 shows the phone number of incoming calls, the name of the person calling and, if available, his or her photo. Time-controlled deactivation of the ringtone is possible using the integrated day/night mode to ensure that users are not disturbed when they want peace and quiet. Optionally, calls from predefined VIP contacts are still indicated acoustically. The Gigaset SL850 also has an SMS function: The device is automatically registered in the SMS Center and can be used to send and receive SMSs of up to 612 characters.
The S850 is available in two further variants: Boasting an answering machine and the advantages of Gigaset GO, the S850A GO model is the perfect all-rounder for telephony of the future. The S850HX handset is the compact variant for extending Gigaset and other base stations and routers.
S850A GO: Answering machine function and VoIP telephony
The Gigaset models with an integrated answering machine have also automatically been part of the GO portfolio since 2015. The integrated answering machine of the S850A GO variant can be assigned to three different phone numbers and record up to 55 minutes of messages. With Gigaset GO, Gigaset is laying the foundation for smart transitioning from fixed-line telephony to Internet telephony (VoIP), which will replace the conventional fixed-network system and, thanks to Gigaset High Definition Sound Performance (HDSP™), impresses with unprecedented sound quality. Thanks to a bandwidth that is twice as high as that with conventional phone calls, the technology transfers more sound details than ever before – background noise is a thing of the past and users hear every nuance in the voice of the person they are talking with.
In the case of a fixed-line connection, the S850A GO’s handset can still be used with one phone number, whereas up to six numbers are available for an IP-based connection and two calls can be conducted simultaneously. The Gigaset online service provides users with further practical features, such as the Gigaset cloud service, numerous Gigaset apps, access to online phone directories, display of missed calls and messages from the answering machine on the smartphone.
The complement to telephony of the future
The compact extra handset S850HX can be connected directly to DECT/GAP routers and routers with DECT CAT-iq 2.0/2.1. As a result, Gigaset creates the conditions for future-proof Internet telephony – without sacrificing sound quality thanks to HDSP™. The device is ready to use right away – additional system boxes are thus a thing of the past. Anyone not wishing to do without the fixed-network box can also use the Gigaset S850HX as a space-saving extension to Gigaset DECT base stations and DECT/GAP base stations from other vendors.
Gigaset develops and produces its cordless phones directly in Germany, hence adhering to the highest standards. The "Made in Germany" claim is not only reflected in the technology, but also in the design and innovation.
The Gigaset S850 is available in the variants S850 (RRP: 79.99 euros), S850A GO (RRP: 99.99 euros) and S850HX (RRP: 79.99 euros) from specialty retailers and in the Gigaset online shop.
