Munich, September 3, 2015 - A new star among high-end phones enters the stage: The new Gigaset SL450 cordless phone. The perfect device for the sophisticated user. It impresses with high-quality materials, excellent acoustics and an extra-large address book. At 2.4 inches, the SL450's TFT color display is the largest of all cordless keypad phones in the Gigaset family. The SL450A GO, the variant with an answering machine, and the universal handset SL450HX to extend common routers and DECT systems make the model series an all-rounder for telephony of the future.
Gigaset stands for high-end and premium fixed-line phones and, from this fall, will launch the new Gigaset SL450, which is positioned between the Gigaset SL400, the compact classic with a metal frame, and the technically refined S850. A solid metal frame, excellent design and the largest display (2.4") among keypad phones – those are the features that make it the "perfect" device. It comes in three variants: As a conventional telephone system, as a Gigaset GO phone with an answering machine and additional IP capability for the new all-IP connections, and as a handset to complement DECT base stations and routers.
With its compact handset with an aluminum frame and brilliant audio quality, the SL450 is a cordless phone of the premium class – in terms of design, looks and acoustics. "Our SL series unites high-quality materials and excellent acoustics with practical convenience features for everyday use," says Dr. Kurt Aretz, Head of the Business Unit Voice Products. "With the Gigaset SL450, we are following up the success of the SL400 and presenting our new rising star."
The extra-large address book for up to 500 contacts transforms the device into an organizational expert that stores up to three phone numbers for each contact. Since all the contacts are saved as an electronic calling card (vCard), the existing vCards can be transferred from the smartphone or PC to the fixed-line system with little effort. This is done quickly and easily via WLAN, Bluetooth 2.0 or the micro USB connection. In conjunction with the GO base station, all names that can be found in the public telephone directory are also displayed for making calls.
Outstanding audio quality
A further highlight of the Gigaset SL450 is its outstanding audio quality. Thanks to the brilliance of the handset's separate loudspeaker complying with the full-duplex standard and four handsfree profiles to enable ideal adjustment of the acoustics, handsfree calls become an excellent audio experience. When calls are made over the Internet (VoIP), the GO variant impresses with unmatched sound quality thanks to Gigaset High Definition Sound Performance (HDSP™). With a bandwidth twice that in conventional calls, HDSP™ transmits more sound details than ever before and minimizes the background noise that may occur in conventional calls over the Internet, for example. As a result, every nuance in the other person's voice can be heard. A headset, for which there are different handsfree and headset profiles, can also be connected via Bluetooth 2.0.
Customized call signaling
The Gigaset SL450 shows incoming calls on its large display either along with the number or name (CLIP/CNIP) or, thanks to Picture CLIP, with a photo of the caller. All pictures and ringtones can be downloaded in BMP or MP3 format, among others. Time-controlled deactivation of the ringtone is possible using the integrated day/night mode, while calls from predefined VIP contacts are still indicated acoustically if required. Apart from displaying missed calls, its high-quality illuminated keypad and a screensaver with personal photos or a slideshow feature, the Gigaset SL450 has an SMS function. The cordless phone is automatically registered in the SMS Center, meaning the device can send and receive SMSs of up to 612 characters.
Universal handset for Speedport, FRITZ!Box & Co
The new SL450HX is one of a series of universal handsets that not only work on Gigaset base stations. They operate excellently with routers that have a conventional DECT protocol, such as the FRITZ!Box, as well as ones complying with the CAT-iq standard (e.g. the current Speedport models from Telekom). Key features in this context are access to the internal telephone directories of the routers, the lists of incoming, outgoing and missed calls and operation of the router’s answering machine. The universal handset SL450HX is, as it were, the premium alternative to the system handsets from router vendors. Details on the performance features of the universal handset on various router models can be found on the Gigaset compatibility website.
Future-proof telephony with the Gigaset SL450A GO
The Gigaset models with an integrated answering machine have also automatically been part of the GO portfolio since 2015. With its Gigaset GO, Gigaset is laying the foundation for smart transitioning from fixed-line telephony to Internet telephony (all-IP), which will replace the conventional fixed-network system. In the case of a fixed-line connection, the SL450A GO's handset can still be used with one phone number, whereas up to six numbers are available for an IP-based connection and two calls can be conducted simultaneously. The related Gigaset online service provides further practical features, such as access to the Gigaset cloud service and numerous Gigaset apps, access to online phone directories and display of missed calls and messages from the answering machine on the smartphone. The integrated answering machine can be assigned to three different phone numbers and record up to 55 minutes of messages.
Gigaset develops and produces its cordless phones directly in Germany, hence adhering to the highest standards. The "Made in Germany" claim is not only reflected in the technology, but also in the design and innovation.
The Gigaset SL450 is available in the Gigaset online shop and from specialty retailers as of September. The individual variants of the products will have the following recommended retail prices:
- Gigaset SL450: 139.99 euros
- Gigaset SL450A GO: 159.99 euros
