How our products become even better through environmentally friendly production and materials

In this section you will learn how our phones are packaged in a way that is both beautiful and environmentally friendly. Because Gigaset products convince both on the inside and outside. When it comes to packaging, we place great importance on recyclability and the conscious use of materials. But that's just the beginning: we think about the environment as early as the production stage, so for example we rely on green electricity and the careful use of resources, among other things.

Pitching in with the packaging

A beautiful product should also be beautifully packaged. But good packaging is not just all about aesthetics, it's also about security: After all, everything should arrive undamaged and in perfect condition. The importance of packaging is also demonstrated by the unboxing phenomenon: Some customers like to film themselves as they unpack their purchases and share their joy online. Gigaset devices too are being unboxed in these films, which provide testimonies of appreciation and transparency. And it makes sense - after all, everyone can and should see how well we design the packages for our technical devices. But why is unpacking a Gigaset device an especially joyous affair? Well, for one thing, our products look good. But above all, they are sustainable.

It’s all about getting back to nature

More than 90% of Gigaset packaging is made of recycled material. This is both good for our ecological footprint and good for you! We have dispensed with plastic components as far as possible and replaced packaging elements such as cable ties and plastic bags with paper-based materials. We are particularly proud of our pulp-based packaging material. In addition to recycled waste paper, our packaging consists of up to 30% grass fibres that rapidly regrow. You can even compost our grass-based paper! The hay used in this comes from local pastures in Germany.

Long live our transport links!

"Made in Germany" is a simple promise that we can assure you of when it comes to our packaging, too. The smart use of packaging materials is of equal importance to us: All too often, small items are placed in boxes that are far too big. Of course, this does not have to be the case. Each of our products is optimally packaged to save on resources as much as possible. This reduces the transport volume, meaning that more packages can be transported at the same time. In addition, we attach great importance to our cooperation with regional suppliers. This guarantees short journeys, strengthens local industry and saves large amounts of CO2 emissions from being produced as well.

Staying switched on without sacrificing energy

You too can do a lot to help save energy in your own home. Every TV, every washing machine and every mains adapter consumes power, whether in an active state or in standby mode. Our Gigaset cordless phones also require constant power, but we have developed completely new technology designed to save energy in spite of this: Thanks to ECO DECT technology, the power consumption and transmission power between the handset and base station have been significantly reduced. So if you choose a device from Gigaset, you'll also be saving energy. On that note: At Gigaset, we have been making use of 100% CO2-free electricity for quite some time now!

Doing everything we can to protect the environment

These changes are all small contributions that can make a big difference. And if everyone plays their part, we can accomplish so much more! At Gigaset, we are mindful of environmentally friendly production and recyclable materials. We save electricity, use resources responsibly and champion recycling and repairs. And, since taking action in this area can also make a big difference: The batteries for some of our smartphones are replaceable, while the operating instructions are printed out of recycled material and bear the Blue Angel and FSC sustainability labels. It's a nice added feature that's also been implemented with protecting the environment in mind.

However, there are currently supply bottlenecks on the world market for waste paper from which recycled paper is made. Therefore, in exceptional cases, we have to resort to virgin fibre paper for printing our instruction manuals. It is our common goal to use recycled fibre, to return to recycled paper as quickly as possible and to keep the amount of virgin fibre used as low as possible.
